Arguably one of the most popular travel destinations in the USA, Miami Beach in the Sunshine State of Florida, isn't just a beach. It's a vibe. One that grabs you instantly – somewhere between palm trees, pastel-colored houses, and that warm breeze that feels like the ultimate lifestyle. The place is simply "sun, vibes & aesthetic" – but with history in the background. Miami originated at the beginning of the 20th century and was originally nothing but swamp and mangrove forest. Only through massive land reclamation and the construction of bridges did the whole area become habitable and accessible. The real boom came in the 1920s, when Miami Beach was deliberately developed as a luxury vacation destination – including the iconic Art Deco Historic District buildings.

North and South Beach - a mix of beach and lifestyle
Today, Miami Beach is primarily known for its mix of beach, lifestyle, and nightlife. While South Beach is more associated with parties, influencers, and luxury, North Beach is a bit underrated—less crowded, more relaxed, and with a more local vibe. There are affordable low-budget hotels and plenty of shopping options for inexpensive food. It's perfect if you don't want to be in constant party mode, need to save money, and still want to chill, swim, and enjoy the beach.

I was traveling on a budget and stayed at the Broadmore In on North Beach. Don't expect luxury here – and getting a room definitely requires a bit of luck – but the place has real charm: an older Art Deco hotel, just steps from the beach. In less than three minutes, you can be standing barefoot on the dazzling white sand. The location is also incredibly convenient for exploring Miami. They offer free coffee, bananas, bagels, and cereal in the mornings. While the selection isn't huge, it's sufficient. So, if you want to save money but still experience the Miami vibe, this is a solid base for a few days.

North Beach is significantly quieter than South Beach – fewer people, more space, and that laid-back Florida vibe. Perfect for long walks or simply unwinding. The boardwalk is ideal for cycling or jogging with ocean views. You can walk for miles. North Shore Open Space Park is also a real highlight: lots of greenery, palm trees, boardwalks, and direct beach access. Especially beautiful at sunset.

Food lovers in hot dog heaven
If you're craving the perfect snack after a long day at the beach, Burgers & Shakes on Collins Avenue in North Beach is the place to be. Food lovers will feel like they're in hot dog heaven here. They're juicy, loaded with toppings, and even better when paired with a refreshing... er, apple juice.

South Beach, on the other hand, is the vibrant heart of Miami – with iconic Art Deco architecture around Ocean Drive, colorful lifeguard huts, endless beaches, legendary nightlife and countless restaurants, bars and spots to see and be seen.

Do white parties still exist?
The answer is: YES! And they're legendary. What many don't know is that they've been around since the '80s and remain a true statement event to this day. Dress code: all white. Location: hotels often right on the beach, in exclusive beach clubs, or on yachts. The idea behind it? Clean, stylish, a little fancy – but still full-on party. It's this mix of luxury, music, and that "endless summer" atmosphere that makes Miami Beach so special.

Ocean Drive & Lincoln Road – Miami's iconic stage between Art Deco, shopping & ocean vibes
Ocean Drive in the Art Deco Historic District embodies the iconic Miami feel: pastel-colored Art Deco buildings from the 1920s and 30s, neon lights, palm trees, and the beach right behind them – a blend of relaxed daytime vibes and vibrant nightlife with bars, great cocktails, and music. It has served as a backdrop for films, music videos, and events for decades and continues to attract influencers, celebrities, and international visitors. The Lincoln Road Mall is about a 10-15 minute walk away. There you'll find a pedestrianized shopping and strolling area with shops, cafes, and restaurants.

Once a year, the Art Deco Weekend takes place . During this event, the district transforms into an open-air exhibition with guided tours, exhibitions, vintage markets, and live performances all centered around Art Deco. It aims to contribute to the preservation of the Art Deco district. You can find more information here.

The Clevelander South Beach Hotel and Bar on Ocean Drive is one of Miami Beach's most famous party spots – with a pool, DJs, and an open-air vibe right on the street. We recommend it because you'll experience the quintessential South Beach feeling here, with music, drinks, and a great atmosphere all in one place. During the day, you can chill by the pool with DJ sounds in the background; in the evening, the whole place transforms into a huge outdoor party with tons of people who are there for that exact Miami vibe.

PS: As you know, one of my favorite things is browsing for products in the supermarket. I wonder how many calories one of those Arizona cans has?
